World Tourism Week to be Celebrated in Iran

Tehran, 26th September 2007 (CHN) -- Different tourism and cultural programs will be held in all Iranian provinces on occasion of World Tourism Week. Organizing tours, welcoming tourists with branches of flowers, and 40 percent reduction in hotel prices are among the most important programs of ICHHTO's provincial departments during this week.


Honoring the students and activists in tourism industry in Golestan province, compiling the slogan of world tourism day in Persian and Latin languages in Isfahan, organizing low-price tours in Gilan province, organizing an exhibition from the paintings of Hamadani children and holding some competition in this regard, giving warm welcome to pilgrims to shrine of Imam Reza upon their arrival to holly city of Mashhad, holding special ceremony with live music performance and welcoming people for Iftar to break their fast in tourism house in Khoramabad, Lorestan province, as well as decorating the lodgings and squares of the province are the other programs during this week.

Coincided with start of academic year in Iran, in Isfahan province, the bell of world tourism day will ring on 27th of September and a one-day tour will be organized for junior students to visit historical sites of Isfahan city.

Low-price tours have been also organized for tourists of Gilan province during this week. One of the other program's of Gilan's ICHTO provincial department is to launch the website of the province available at www.guilanmaj.ir in which tourism attractions of Gilan province will be introduced.

Two meetings regarding rural and tribal tourism have been also organized during this week which will be held separately. Pointing out that in Iran's tourism week, 30th of September has been called as the ecotourism day, Ali Mohammad Namazi, secretary of Iran Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization's Taskforce for Rural and Tribal Tourism said: "A meeting will be held in this regard with attendance of the members of ecotourism national committee, rural and tribal tourism committee, and related organization such as Agriculture-Jihad Ministry, Nomad's Issues Organization, and Ecotourism Organization on 30th of September."

The first three days of Iran's tourism week have been called as: "Iranian hospitality and tourism", "family, the base of tourism development", and "the young and tourism" respectively.

"Ecotourism and sport", "standard services and tourism", and "training, media and tourism" will be the other titles of the other days of tourism week in Iran. The last day of tourism week in Iran has been named as "culture and tourism".

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) theme for this year is "Tourism Opens Doors for Women"
