TEHRAN, Sep. 29 (ISNA)-Iran condemned the U.S. Senate plan to divide Iraq into 3 federal regions and called it "flagrant interference" in Iraqi interior affairs.
Iran's foreign ministry spokesman said this plan proves that the U.S. is reiterating its mistakes in Iraq.
"This measure is one of the mistakes which makes the Americans to rectify it later," Mohammad Ali Husseini announced.
Such measures oppose Nouri Al-Maliki's government attempt to create unity and integrity in the nation, he added.
"We emphasize that all should respect the political process and constitution which have been gained through democracy."
Any decision over Iraq should be taken by Iraqis and through legal process; Iraqis have the right to choose their destiny by their own hands, Husseini asserted.
The U.S. congress has approved a plan to divide Iraq into 3 regions based on ethnic and religious bases.
