Berlin, April 2, IRNA -- Germany's 2-0 win over Iran during the first-round match of the 1998 World Cup in France was among the top ten most-watched football games in the history of television broadcasts of German national teams, DPA quoted Wednesday a consumer research group, based in the southern city of Nuremberg.

Germany's 1998 World Cup encounter against Iran was seen by 24,320,000 million people.

Heading the list of most-watched German national football matches was Germany's heart-breaking 2-0 overtime loss to Italy at the 2006 World Cup with 29.66 million people.

Ranked second and third were Germany's victories against Argentina at the 1990 World Cup finals in Italy with 28.66 million and the Czech Republic at the 1996 Euro Cup in England with 28.44 million.

Games by the German national football squads are usually among the highest rated national television broadcasts.
