Payvand.com (San Jose, California) -- The first
Norouz (Iranian New Year) parade was held on
Market street in downtown San Jose, California on Sunday March 30. The parade
started around 12PM and lasted for about an hour. The parade was then followed
by a live music and dance performances next to the San Jose Museum.

Various Iranian-American organizations, groups and personalities took part in the parade.
Children and adult dancers from several local Persian dance academies performed
traditional Iranian dances for the cheerful onlookers.
Organizers of the event were
surprised by the crowd turnout which was estimated by the San Jose police at
about 7000.
