Press TV -- The Islamic Republic reportedly installs three new 164-centrifuge cascades at its uranium enrichment complex in Natanz in central Iran.
"Out of the second series of 3,000 centrifuges to be installed at Natanz nuclear facility, three cascades consisting of 164 centrifuges each have become operational," IRNA news agency quoted an unnamed official.
"These are P1-type centrifuges," the official said.
The new cascades bring the total number of operational centrifuges at the nuclear facility to 3,492.
On Tuesday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced plans to install 6,000 more centrifuges at the uranium enrichment plant in the current Iranian year.
Tehran maintains that as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), it has a right to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
