The
International Journalists' Network (IJNet)
A nationwide
competition established in memory of the late Iranian journalist Mehran Ghassemi
ended in Tehran, with five prizes awarded to
journalists that covered issues including civil rights in
Iran, Iran and human rights, foreign policy of the
current government, social issues in Iran, and Iran vs. America.
The editor of the Web site
Journalists for Peace and two other writers from the same site were among the
winners. Nooshabeh Amiri, an editor of Roozonline, received a special
recognition.
The five winners of the
competition will receive the one-month salary of the journalist Masih Malakout,
and half of the salary of another journalist who wishes to remain anonymous.
Other prizes include a collection of books by Ghassemi.
Ghassemi was the editor of the
International Affairs desk of Etemdad-e-Melli and an expert on Iranian nuclear
dossier who died of a heart attack in January 2008 at the age of 30.
