Iran: Turmoil curbed in Pol-e-dokhtar

Press TV -- Deputy Governor of the Iranian city of Pol-e-dokhtar, Jafar Tulabi, says a turmoil that had erupted all across the city is subsided down. The police, security forces and private organizations contributed to the restoration of peace and stability in the city, Tulabi said.

Pol-e-Dokhtar is a city in the Lorestan province in western Iran. It is approximately 100 kilometers from Khorramabad, the provincial capital.

Supporters of the elected representative of the eighth parliamentary (Majlis) elections clashed with police after the rumors spread that elections would be re-held in Pol-e-dokhtar.

Pol-e-dokhtar deputy governor noted that the streets and damaged buildings were all cleaned up on Thursday morning and that the Status in the city is back to normal.

Angry protestors had blocked Pol-e-dokhtar's southern road to Tehran by torching tires on Wednesday night.
