Shahr-e Kord, April 21, IRNA -- Shahrekord University is mulling expansion of academic ties with University of Kent, Belgium, the deputy chancellor of the university for educational affairs said on Monday.

Gholamreza Rezaie-zadeh said that ties with the Belgian university will be in the fields of science, research and education.

The Brussels-based University of Kent is one of the reputable European universities, he told IRNA.

Iran's Shahrekord University will cooperate with different colleges of Kent University in some courses including basic sciences, engineering, technology and agriculture, biotechnology in particular.

Rezaie-zadeh added that the Iranian university was to promote cooperation with universities of Paris and India by inking scientific memoranda of understanding.

The Iranian university has dispatched three students to Russia's Timiryazev Agricultural Academy in order to implement a research project, he said.

He also said that Shahrekord University is ready to admit foreign students in different courses.

At present, 6,000 students are studying at Shahrekord University in Chaharmahal Bakhtiari province, southern Iran, in various fields.
