Press TV -- Iranian rower, Mohsen Shadi, has won an Olympic berth for his country at the Asian rowing championships, which are being held in China.
Shadi managed to come first in his group at men's heavyweight single sculls on Saturday to secure the first 2008 Beijing Olympic berth in Iran's sailing history.
The Iranian rower is slated to compete with his rivals from other groups to win a medal on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Iranian female rower, Homa Hosseini, has reached the final stage at women's heavyweight single sculls to compete with her Asian opponents to get another Olympic berth for her country on Sunday.
This is the first time Iran's rowing team has participated in such competitions.
Some 25 Asian rowers are competing in the event, which began on Friday and will end on Sunday.
Only 17 out of 25 male and female rowers will win 2008 Beijing Olympic berths at the Asian rowing championships.
