Caretaker of Tehran Municipality's Development Department announced that 7,730 hectares of national lands have been transferred to Tehran province municipalities and 15 million saplings will be planted on them to increase green spaces.
IRNA quoted Yousefali Darounparvar as adding that the lands have been given to provincial municipalities as part of a five-year plan to develop green spaces and 8,000 hectares of such lands will be allocated to municipalities as part of the second five-year development plan where 15 million saplings will be planted.
The official added that per capita green spaces in Tehran province stood at 4 sq m in 2003, which reached 28 sq m last year and is to reach 50 sq m by the end of the second five-year development plan.
Darounparvar said building 298 parks in cities and neighborhoods, is another plan to be implemented, adding, "We are also planning to allocate 1 percent of residential units and 25 percent of plants and workshops in Tehran province to green spaces."
Tehran Billboards to Be Standardized
Managing director of Tehran Beautification Organization announced that advertisement billboards across Tehran will be standardized.
SAMA quoted Hojjatollah Mollasalehi as saying that standard billboards are currently being installed along highways.
He noted that the new billboards are made of steel and are very resistant.
"Their size and location will conform to international standards and finding suitable locations for them will be carried out by University Jihad Institute," he said.
The official stated that a separate billboard model has been designed for every highway in Tehran according to standards.
"They would appear differently and will be
special to a certain highway," he said.
Mollasalehi also noted that after installation of standard billboards, the old ones will be removed.
