Press TV - Iran's national soccer team has advanced to the final match of the 5th West Asian Football Federation Championship being held in Tehran. The Iranian squad qualified for the final after a 2-0 victory over Syria at Tehran's 30,000-seater Takhti Stadium on Wednesday.
Kianoush Rahmati scored the opener from the penalty spot in the 7th minute of the game and Gholamreza Rezaei doubled the score in the 52nd minute.
Iran's Milad Meidavoudi was selected as the best player of the match.
Earlier, the Iranian outfit won Palestine 3-0 in its first match on August 7 and thrashed Qatar 6-1 in its second encounter on Monday.
The final will be held in the presence of Asian Football Confederation president Mohammad Bin Hammam at Tehran's 100,000-seater Azadi stadium on Friday.
Powerhouse Iran has won three of the four WAFF championship titles so far.
