The Iranian national basketball team has been defeated in its third match against Australia in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

The Australian side won a 106-68 victory over Iran on Thursday.

Iran lost its first match against Russia 71-49 on August 10 and was defeated 99-67 by Lithuania in its second game on August 12.

The Iranian outfit is scheduled to meet Argentina on August 16 and face Croatia two days later.

Iran's basketball squad is in Group A of the Olympic Games, competing against Argentina, Lithuania, Russia, Croatia and Australia.

Group B sees the United States, Angola, host China, Spain, Germany and Greece.

The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games kicked off on August 8 and will end on August 24.
