Press TV - Iranian boxer Morteza Sepahvand has successfully advanced to the quarterfinals of the 64 kg category at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Sepahvand reached the last eight after beating his powerful Romanian rival Ionut Gherorge 8-4 in his second fight Thursday evening.
The Iranian boxer won the first three rounds 2-1, 2-1 and 3-1 but tied 1-1 in the forth round.
"I have come to Beijing to win a medal. I am determined to defeat my next rival," Sepahvand said after the game.
Sepahvand won a 16-4 victory over his opponent from Tunisia in his first match.
The 29-year-old Iranian national will face Dominican boxer Felix Diaz, in his next fight on August 17.
Ionut Gherorge holds the 2004 Olympic bronze medal in boxing.
