Payvand.com - Iranian students participating in the
Second International Olympiad on Astronomy
and Astrophysics have gained the third place by receiving four medals and an
honorary diploma, ISNA reported.
Here is the record of the 5-member Iranian team:

The competition
was held in Bandung city, capital of West Java Province in Indonesia from August
19-28.
Students from
25 countries including Bangladesh, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, China,
Greece, India, Iran, Korea, Lithuania, Myanmar, Poland, Romania, Singapore,
Slovakia, Srilanka, Thailand, and Ukraine as well as Vietnam competere in the
ten-day event.
The
IOAA is a yearly competition on astronomy and
astrophysics for high school students. Each member "country" takes turn to host
this event.
The First IOAA
was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on November 30 to December 9, 2007. The
third IOAA will be held in Iran.
Promoting
interests of high school students on astronomy and astrophysics is the main
purpose of holding the competition. Through participating in the competitions,
students will have opportunities to meet fellow students and make friends. This
will lead to good understandings among countries and closer cooperation in
future researches.
