NIGC taps world's longest sour gas pipeline


TEHRAN, Aug. 30 (Mehr News Agency) - The world's longest sour gas pipeline, extending from southern Assaluyeh to southwestern Aghajari, officially came on stream on Saturday, the managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said, SHANA reported.

"The 504-km long, 56-inch pipeline will transfer sour gas from the South Pars gas field phases 6,7 and 8 to be injected to Aghajari oilfield," Seyyed Reza Kassaeizadeh said.

The NIGC commenced implementation of the pipeline project in 2006 by allocating some $2 billion, he noted.
