TEHRAN, Aug. 31 (Mehr News Agency) -- Five Iranian plays are scheduled to be performed during
the International Theater Landscapes festival in Ruhr, which opens on September
1st. "Mr. Leila",
"Terminal", "Cadence", "Pinocchio", and "Hassan and the Demon of the Narrow Road
Behind the Mountains" will be staged during the festival held annually by the
Theater an der Ruhr.Written by Mehrdad
Kuroshnia, "Mr. Leila" is about a family losing their home in southwestern Iran
during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq.
Kuroshnia is also director of the play that will
be performed by Mohammad Bazrafkan, Puria Rahimi, Reza Rabatjezi, and Fatemeh
Asgari.
"Terminal" is based on three separate short
stories written by Mehrak Qazvini. The dialogues of the characters in the
stories have been adapted by Siamak Ehasaii for the play, in which three women
tell their life stories.
Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, Shabnam Moqaddami, and Pantea
Panahiha will act in the play.

"Cadence" is a play about the after-death adventures of three people who caused
each other's deaths.
Nima Dehqan will direct the play to be acted by
Leili Rashidi, Farzin Sabuni, Sina Razani, and Alireza Mohammadi.
"Pinocchio" has been dramatized based on Carlo
Collodi's book "Pinocchio" in a collaborative effort by director Asghar Dashti
and Nasim Ahmadpur.
Khosro Mahmudi, Hedayat Hashemi, Naz Shadman, Abbas
Habibi, and Ramin Sayyar-Dashti are the cast members.
"Hassan and the Demon of the Narrow Road Behind the
Mountains" is a fairy tale written by Afshin Hashemi, who is also the director
of the play.
The play tells the story of Hassan, who intends to
fight the demon that kidnapped the Angel of Dreams in order to free the angel.
Hashemi, Alireza Nasehi, Meisam Yusefi, Setareh
Aminian, and Hedayat Hashemi will act in the play.
The troupes have been invited by the Theater an der
Ruhr, whose founder, Roberto Ciulli, is a regular participant in the Fajr
International Theater Festival, Iran's most prestigious theater gala.
Offering dance, theater, the performing arts, jazz,
electronic music, film, and literature, the International Theater Landscapes
festival will run through September 8.
