A bone marrow transplant center in Iran has become the third such center in the world due to the number of its performed transplants.
Shariati Hospital's bone marrow transplant center located in Tehran is the first
such a center established in Iran which has now become one of the leading BMT
centers of the Middle East.
Some 72 percent of the center's 2,500 BMT recipients have resumed normal life, said the father of Iran's oncology and stem cell transplant, Ardeshir Ghavamzadeh.
The first bone marrow transplant was performed in the center founded by Ghavamzadeh in 1991.
