Press TV - Iran's weightlifting manager Hossein Rezazadeh says his men did their utmost to be successful at the Asian Weightlifting Championship.
"Iranian youth and junior weightlifters and the technical staff tried their best to win the Asian championship for the youth team and finish as the runner-up for the junior squad," Rezazadeh said on Tuesday.
"The level of the Asian weightlifting competition in South Korea was as high as world competitions because it was held after the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing," the two-time super heavyweight Olympic Champion added.
According to the 30-year-old Rezazadeh, Iranian weightlifters were well-prepared for the event because they had spent several months in camping.
Rezazadeh, known as the Iranian Hercules, further praised Iranian talented heavyweight Saeed Ali-Hosseini and said he has great power, speed and techniques but needs accurate programming to be successful in future competitions.
Ali-Hosseini set new junior weightlifting world record and took three gold medals in the +105 kg category when he lifted 206 kg in the snatch, 245 kg in the clean and jerk and 451 kg in total categories on Monday.
The 2008 Asian Weightlifting Championship was held in South Korea's Jeonju city on December 4-8.
