U.S. government expels Iran's GAJ Publications from Association of Educational Publishers

TEHRAN, Dec. 10 (Mehr News Agency) -- The U.S. government expelled Iran's GAJ Publications from the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) last week.

GAJ Publications was the only Asian member of AEP, said the manager of the Public Relations Office of the publishing chouse, adding, "The AEP is an American organization for educational publishers that follow the regulations of the United States. They asked to exclude GAJ since it is an Iranian publisher."

Samaneh Mir Abedini added that the publishing house also has to pay a $500,000 fine, saying, "GAJ became member of AEP in early 2008. It is only active in publishing educational books and does not engage in any political activity."

She added that GAJ managing director is trying to gain a positive response from the U.S. government to be able to return to the AEP once again.

GAJ has been active in the country since 2002.
