TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- The Tenth Annual International Iranian Archaeology Conference is to open in Bandar Abbas on December 10.
The 4-day gathering, which is being sponsored by the Archaeological Research Center of Iran (ARCI) of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO), is to scrutinize the latest studies on Iranian archaeological sites over the past year.
ARCI Director Mohammad Hassan Fazeli Nashli and CHTHO Director Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaii will deliver speeches during the opening ceremony of the conference.
A great number of foreign and Iranian experts have been slated to present their papers during the colloquium, MNA reported.
Arman Shishegar, the Iranian archaeologist who led a team that carried out a series of rescue excavations in the Jubji region of the city of Ramhormoz in Khuzestan Province, will present his research on the Elamite site.
Iranian-Italian joint archaeological team directors Alireza Askari Chaverdi and Pierfrancesco Callieri will give lectures on their excavations at the Tall-e Takht fortress of Pasargadae in Fars Province.
The latest investigations on the Rivand Fire Temple in Sabzevar will be discussed by joint Iranian-Polish archaeological team directors Hassan Hashemi and Barbara Keim.
The conference will also play host to French archaeologist Remy Boucharlat and Iranian expert Kurosh Mohammadkhani, who will give a report on their joint archaeogeophysical studies on Pasargadae in Fars Province.
Iranian archaeologist Hamed Vahdatinasab has been scheduled to present details of excavations carried out by a joint Iranian-French team at the Garmrud Paleolithic site near Amol in Mazandaran Province.
