Tehran, Dec 11, IRNA - Iran and Sweden reached agreement to cooperate on road safety and transfer of technology from Sweden to boost road safety, Road and Transport Minister Hamid Behbahani said on Thursday.
He told IRNA that Iran needs to boost road safety in the cold weather provinces and Sweden has experience in the sector thanks to its freezing temperature.
He said that he discussed ways of preventing accidents with the Swedish officials and signed agreements to that effect during his five-day visit.
Upon his arrival at Imam Khomeini Airport, Behbahani said that he held different talks with the Swedish minister of enterprise, energy and communications about investment in energy and road sectors.
"Since Sweden is a developed country in terms of road safety and low number of accidents, we held talks on road safety equipment including snow plows, electronic eyes for controlling roads and warning signs," the minister said.
Behbahani said that some 100,000 Iranians are living in Sweden, who hold state and private posts, such as presidency of the railway company and members of parliament.
