Press TV - Iran's national soccer team has snatched a 2-0 victory over China to come third at the International Cup of Oman held in Muscat.
The Iranian squad beat China in the friendly at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on Friday.
Iran took the lead when Seyyed Mehdi Seyyed Salehi converted a penalty in the 43rd minute.
Pejman Nouri managed to double the advantage due to a Chinese defender's mistake in the 72nd minute.
Iran, coached by Ali Daei, lost its first game of the tournament 1-0 to Ecuador and china was ousted 3-1 by Oman in the inaugurating match of the tournament on Wednesday.
In Friday's final, host Oman won the gold medal and was awarded $100,000 after defeating Ecuador 2-0.
The Iranian outfit is scheduled to compete with South Korea in Group B of the final Asian qualifying round on February 11.
Iran is competing against Saudi Arabia, North Korea, the UAE and South Korea in the group.
