Tehran, Dec 22, IRNA - Minister of Health and Medical Education Kamran Baqeri-Lankarani said that the number of scientific articles on medical sciences will exceed 4,000 in the current Iranian year (to end on March 20).
Addressing the 14th Razi Medical Sciences Research Festival Monday, he added that the figure was 3,000 last year.
This is while the number was very small before the victory of Islamic Revolution, Lankarani noted.
Commenting on Iran's ranking in producing articles in the international community, he added that it ranked 41 in the world in 2004 while it stood 27 in 2007.
He hoped that it will advance to 25th this year.
Currently, some 130 magazines on medical sciences are being published in the country, he said.
The minister also thanked President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for earmarking 112 million euros for research and post-graduate centers.
Some 10 billion rials has been paid to the ministry in line with supporting the researchers, he said.
