TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Malaysian car manufacturing company Proton will begin mass
production of Gen-2 model in Iran from next two months.
Iranian President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad and Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi signed a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Tehran in the same regard.
Director Generals of Iranian Zagros Khodro and Malaysian Proton car
manufacturing companies have inked mass production agreement.
Proton and Zagros Khodro companies have been commercial partners for over seven
years and the new agreement for Gen-2 production in Iran is concluded for a new
level of cooperation.
A group of Iranian and Malaysian engineers and experts are working in Iran's
Boroujerd Company to run Gen-2 assembly line, 70 percent of which is completed.
The dye used for painting this model is among the modern one in Europe and is
made according to German BMW dying line.
50 thousands Gen-2 cars will be produced yearly within the next five years if
Proton supports production and supply car parts.
Also assembly line of Malaysian Proton Saga (New Saga) will be run in Iran next
year.
The engine of this 1300-cc Proton Saga works with 94 horse-powers.
