TEHRAN, Dec. 28 (Mehr News Agency) -- Israel's barbaric attack on the innocent civilians of Gaza on Saturday once again revealed the true nature of the Zionist regime. The onslaught was unleashed just after the Christian world celebrated the birthday of Jesus Christ and Pope Benedict XVI called for peace in the Middle East in his Christmas address.

This collective punishment of Palestinian civilians is a crime against humanity. Future generations will neither forgive nor forget the shameful inaction of countries and international organizations in response to this outrage.

Certain Western countries, which ostensibly  push for Middle East peace talks and advise other nations about human rights, shamefully support Israel at the UN Security Council whenever the issue of the atrocities being committed against Palestinians comes up.

This subservience to Israel has convinced the world, and especially the Arab world, that international organizations like the UN Security Council are not interested in doing anything to halt Israel's decades of oppression of the Palestinians.

The Israeli blitzkrieg is definitely a disproportionate response to a few Qassem rockets fired by the Palestinians on occasions.

Gaza has been turned into an open-air prison, a giant concentration camp where Palestinian women and children are being denied food and medicine in their own homeland. And now the illegitimate usurper regime has launched a merciless attack on the Palestinians of Gaza, but no one is calling for Israeli officials to be brought to the Intentional Criminal Court to stand trial for their crimes, which is itself a crime against humanity.
