Beirut, Feb 3, IRNA - Head of the Iranian Headquarters for Reconstruction of Lebanon said here Friday ever since end of last year's Israeli imposed war, Iranians have completed over 400 construction projects throughout Lebanon.
Engineer Hessam Khoshnevis added in an interview with IRNA, "Iran had accepted to complete some 600 construction projects, including academic, religious and medical centers, bridges, rural infrastructure facilities, and power stations, 70% of which is already completed." According to him, Iran has also accepted to reconstruct 375 kilometers of damaged highways and roads in Lebanon, 199 kilometers of which, or 53% of the job, is now completed.
Khoshnevis reiterated, "The Islamic Republic of Iran has been among the first countries that announced their readiness to contribute reconstruction of Lebanon following the Israeli imposed destructive war and sent representatives to pave the path for beginning of the construction work here."
He added, "Some roads were minimally damaged during the war, but this headquarters decided to reconstruct them anew and there were other roads that were reconstructed by the Lebanese Roads Ministry, but the reconstruction work was not satisfactory, and the Iranian engineers reconstructed them again."
Khoshnevis said that the existence of infrastructure networks not relying on deep engineering studies in advance as a major problem faced by the Iranian reconstruction team, setting example, "We have had to dig deeper subterranean water ways and to construct a sewage system for the country."
He pointed out that the Iranian reconstruction team is taking advantage of Lebanese consultant engineers and Lebanon's laboratory facilities in pursuing their construction and reconstruction works.
Khoshnevis said that the contractors have guaranteed high class performance of their tasks, having given bank guarantees for the purpose, adding, "There is also painstaking Iranian supervision over the entire process."
According to him, the municipalities of various Lebanese cities cooperate with the Iranian reconstruction team closely, particularly when there is need to own small patches of land, or to change the course of water and electricity lines.
He emphasized, "The entire damaged roads in the course of the Israeli imposed war, save for those that Qatar and Saudi Arabia have vowed to reconstruct, are in the list of Iran's accepted reconstruction responsibilities."
The Israeli military forces martyred over 1,000 Lebanese people and inflicted losses around billion of US dollars during the course of their 33-day imposed war against Lebanon.
Islamic Republic of Iran and some other countries have shouldered responsibilities of Lebanon's war damaged parts directly.
