Baku, Feb 1, IRNA - Azerbaijan studies a project for export of two million cubic meters of natural gas to Iran daily.
"Negotiations between State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Iran are underway now. The amount of gas and other details are being discussed. Natural gas will be delivered to Iran through transmission system of AzeriGaz," Chief of AzeriGaz Alikhan Malikov told reporters in Baku on Friday.
Malikov added that Azerbaijan is technically capable of delivering extra 1.5 million to 2 million cubic meters of gas a day to Iran.
Azerbaijan presently delivers gas to Iran in exchange for the country's annual 350 million cubic meters daily gas supplies to the Republic of Nakhchivan since 2005.
Malikov said SOCAR is also in talks for resumption of Azerbaijan's gas exports to Georgia, which have been disrupted due to expiry of the former agreement and failure to sign a new deal.
