Cairo, Feb 2, IRNA - Iran's Majlis Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel here on Saturday called for expansion of ties with Egypt and underlined that his current visit to the country is the best indication of Iran's determination to this end.
Haddad Adel made the remarks at Cairo airport prior to his departure to Al-Iskandariyah.
During his stay in Cairo, Haddad conferred with high ranking Egyptian officials including President Hosni Mubarak during which he described the exchange of views between the two sides as very friendly and satisfactory.
The visit took place in line with normalization of ties between Iran and Egypt, he said.
The visit proved that the two sides are ready to resume new round of diplomatic relations and broaden all-out ties, he pointed out.
The two sides have not made any decision on starting new round of cooperation but they have agreed to help broaden mutual ties through exchange of delegates, Haddad said.
Iranian Majlis speaker left Cairo to Al-Iskandariyah where he will visit the city's library which is regarded as the biggest library in the world and also inspect the city's cultural and historical monuments.
Haddad-Adel's three-day visit to Egypt is part of his two-nation African tour which will later take him to Sudan.
His visit is taking place at the official invitation of his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed Fathi Sorour.
