TEHRAN, Feb. 09 (Mehr News Agency) -- "Tambourine", Parisa Bakhtavar's first feature movie has been withdrawn from the 26th Fajr Film Festival.
The movie which is an entry in the national competition section of the gala was screened once on Thursday at the Felestin cinema hall when it was warmly received by viewers, producer Jamal Sadatian told Mehr News Agency, adding that its Friday screening at the Farhang cinema was canceled by cultural officials.
He continued, "Officials demanded that certain changes be made to the movie which are impossible to carry out within the short time that remains before the end of the festival, in addition, the storyline would be seriously damaged. So I felt it preferable to withdraw the movie from the event."
On the question of the film being shown to the press at the Sahra hall, he explained, "I will allow 'Tambourine' to be screened for the press on condition that cultural officials allow it to be the original version."
"Tambourine" features the story of a couple named Shirin and Mohammad. They need to get some money together to pay for the repair of Shirin's father's car. They both go to work in a house belonging to wealthy residents in the north of Tehran. The film has comic overtones.
Mehran Modiri, Baran Kowsari, Amin Hayaii, Mohammadreza Sharifinia and Gohar Kheirandish are amongst the cast.
The 26th Fajr Film Festival is underway at Tehran's cinema halls and will end on February 11.
