Tehran, Feb 10, IRNA - Tajik President Imomali Rakhmon left Tehran for Dushanbe, Tajikistan on Sunday at the end of his two-day visit and was seen off by Iran's Energy Minister Parviz Fattah.
Rakhmon had arrived in Tehran's Mehrabad International Airport on Saturday and was welcomed by Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on arrival. He was accorded an official reception by his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday morning.
Presidents Ahmadinejad and Rakhmon held private talks after the official welcoming ceremony and senior Iranian and Tajik political and economic delegations, headed by the two presidents, held official talks.
During President Rakhmon's two-day visit, the two sides signed three protocols on energy, petrochemical, transportation and transit cooperation.
Furthermore, Iranian ministers of energy and defense met President Rakhmon to discuss mutual cooperation in power plant and defense sectors.
Rakhmon in the meetings urged expediting power transmission project and completion of a project for expansion of railway track and asphalt road from Iran to Tajikistan via Afghanistan.
Among other issues the two sides agreed on were investment and construction of an aluminum plant by Tajikistan in Iran and devising a preferential customs tariff accord.
