MASHHAD, Feb. 12 (Mehr News Agency) - Iran supplies 13.53 percent of OPEC oil to the region, Hossein Afarideh, a member of the Majlis Energy Commission said here on Tuesday.
For the time being, Iran's oil consumption is 3.752 billion barrels per day, and taking an average growth of 5.6 percent into account per year, the consumption would reach the production by 2025, he said.
He pointed out that the global oil consumption is estimated to climb from 78.8 billion bpd in 2005 to 116.3 billion bpd in 2025, said Afarideh, adding that the dramatic rise will, for sure, affect the global economy and Iran is not an exception.
Seifollah Jashnsaz added that the first phase of the development plan of Azadegan oilfield is scheduled to be launched in the near future for production of 150,000 bpd.
The second phase of the Azadegan oilfield development plan will be started when Derrick No. 64 becomes operational, the official said.
Azadegan, located 80km west of Ahvaz, Khuzestan Province, is the largest oilfield discovered in the world over the past 30 years, with 33 billion barrels of proven reserves.
