TEHRAN, Feb. 22 (ISNA)-Iran increased fishing Caspian Sea sturgeons producing black caviar by 40 percent during the current Iranian year (ending in March 2008).
Last year Iran's share of Caspian Sea sturgeons stood at 27%. The growth this year is being attributed to employing skilled fishermen with better pay for them, 50-percent growth in number of the fish, protecting the sea resources and better organizing of the fishermen.
Iran's legally produced caviar contains 30 percent protein and with a very high quality is on Europe Union's A list.
Iran has 22 fishing locations and 14 caviar processing centers working based on international standards for production and export of its black caviar.
