Islamabad, Jan 4, IRNA - Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki called on President Pervez Musahharf on Friday and discussed with him bilateral and regional matters, the state run television reported.
The Iranian minister expressed shock and grief over the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and conveyed condolences on behalf of the Iranian government and people, it said.
The Iranian Foreign arrived in Islamabad on a day-long visit in the morning and also held bilateral talks with Pakistani caretaker Foreign Minister Inam-ul-Haque.
The Iranian Foreign Minister condoled the death of Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated on December 27 after she addressed an election rally in the city of Rawalpindi.
He also discussed bilateral and regional matters with his Pakistani counterpart.
Officials said the two foreign ministers also reviewed progress in talks about the multi-billion Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline.
The Iranian Foreign Minister is also scheduled to meet caretaker Prime Minister Mohammadmian Soomro later today.
Mottaki also visited the central secretariat of Pakistan People's Party of Benazir Bhutto in Islamabad and expressed condolences with the party leaders.
He laid flowers at the photograph of Benazir Bhutto and offered 'fateha' for her departed soul.
He registered his remarks at the condolence book and described the death of Benazir Bhutto as a great loss.
An informed source told IRNA, Larijani, who represents Iranian Leader in the Supreme National Security Council, will during his four-day visit meet Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Vice-President Faruq al-Shara and Foreign Minister Walid Moualem.
He is also to visit the historical cities of Halab and Raqe.
Larijani comes to Syria on the second leg of his tour, which already took him to Egypt, where he met and conferred with Egyptian cultural and religious personalities, including Foreign Minister Ahmed Abulgheit.
