IAEA says agreed to resolve outstanding issues in one month

Vienna, Jan 13, IRNA - International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on Sunday that based on new agreement with Iran, the outstanding issues will be resolved in one month.

The agency said in a statement that a new modality plan envisaged to remove the remaining issues in one month.

Director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) arrived in the Iranian capital Friday morning to discuss issues related to Iran's peaceful nuclear program with senior officials of the country.

During two-day visit to Iran, ElBaradei held separate meetings with Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, the IAEO Head Reza Aqazadeh and Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili.

ElBaradei left here for Vienna, Austria, Sunday morning.

He was seen off at the airport by Deputy Head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO), Mohammad Saeedi.

New chapter opens for cooperation with UN nuclear agency

Vienna, Jan 13, IRNA - Iran's Ambassador to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali Asghar Soltanieh said on Sunday that IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei ushered in a new chapter for cooperation between Iran and the UN agency.

He told IRNA after returning from Tehran, that during ElBaradei's talks with Iranian officials, the two parties reviewed mutual cooperation over the past several years and discussed how to speed up cooperation aimed to resolve remaining issues in line with the Modality Plan by March.

Iranian officials once again underlined the country's legitimate rights in benefiting from peaceful nuclear energy mainly uranium enrichment and the fuel cycle, he said.

Soltanieh made it clear that Iran regards IAEA as the only professional body which is authorized to examine nuclear programs of the member states including Iran.

Iran and IAEA are to continue their professional talks as per time table, he said adding that Iran would do its best to resolve the remaining issues until the next meeting of the Board of Governors.
