Bishkek, Jan 14, IRNA - Iranian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan dismissed a report broadcast by Persian language Radio Farda about shipping of radioactive material to Iran as unfounded and for political gains.
The Embassy said in a statement faxed to IRNA that the report had been fabricated for propaganda purpose on the eve of a visit to Tehran of Director General of International Atomic Energy Agency Mohamed ElBaradei.
Opponents of close cooperation between Iran and IAEA have fabricated such a report for political gains, the statement said.
The Embassy said that the western media have intensified propaganda campaign against Iran at a time when Iran and the UN nuclear agency are working closely to remove the outstanding issues as well as any doubt about Iranian nuclear program.
Kyrgyz officials said that the radioactive material belonged to Tajikistan which have been intercepted by Uzbek border guards on Kyrgyz border in late December and a special commission in Bishkek is pursuing the case.
