New Delhi, Jan 15, IRNA - Iran's minister of economic affairs and finance was welcomed at the New Delhi airport by the ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran and some Indian officials soon after his arrival from Colombo, the Capital city of Sri Lanka Tuesday evening.
Dr. Davood Danish Jafari has been invited by the Confederation of Indian Industry to participate in the inaugural session of Partnership Summit -2008 starting in Gurgaon in the state of Haryana bordering New Delhi on Wednesday morning.
Danesh Jafari's visit to India is also aimed at paving the ways for expanding and strengthening the economic cooperation between the two countries, sources close to him said.
During his stay in India Danesh Jafari will meet and exchange views with scores of Indian leaders and officials including Minister of External Affairs Pranab Mukherjee, Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath and Petroleum Minister Murli Deora.
He will also meet Finance Minister P Chidambram during his five days visit to India and will interact with the economic and business editors of Indian newspapers.
He will also address the meeting of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) along with addressing the gathering at Partnership Summit 2008.
The Partnership Summit 2008 this year is jointly being organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of Haryana and the CII. It is expected that more than one thousand delegates from 30 countries will participate in the mega event.
The Summit first instituted by the CII to celebrate Centenary year of its establishment. It is being held for the 14th consecutive years and known as one of the biggest International economic events held in India.
