TEHRAN, Jan. 23 (Mehr News Agency) - Reformist coalition has held talks with a number of high ranking officials to seek support in line with its efforts to compel the electoral supervisory commission to endorse the candidacy of the disqualified Majlis hopefuls, the coalition's spokesman Abdollah Naseri told the Mehr News Agency.
Since the candidacy of many reformists across the country has been rejected, the coalition is going to hold a special meeting to discuss the results of the screening, he added.
Naseri asserted that the disqualified reformists will protests the vetting results at the oversight bodies.
Tehran constituency endorses 1,001, rejects 394 hopefuls
The electoral supervisory commission of the Tehran constituency has rejected the candidacy of 394 parliamentary hopefuls and endorsed 1,001 candidates out of 1,403 who have registered to run for the 2008 legislative elections.
The disqualified candidates have 4 days, from January 23 to 26, to protest the results of the screening by the Guardian Council supervisory commission.
Eight qualified candidates have also pulled out of the election race.
