Vienna, Jan 27, IRNA - Iran-US ties would not remain severed forever, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said in Davos, Switzerland, Saturday evening.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the annual World Economic Forum, Mottaki said that he could "imagine a day to normalize ties with US but there are many obstacles."
Mottaki stressed that Tehran does not want severance of ties with Washington despite the current tension the US escalated over Iranian nuclear program and the alleged support for violence in Iraq.
However, the Iranian minister said the time and mechanism of normalizing Iran-US ties were dependent on "a number of factors." He added that any change in Iran-US ties was not related to US presidential election but related "to the US policy towards Iran." "We have not so far, seen any change in US policies," Mottaki said.
He ruled out an invitation made by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in Davos to hold talks for conditioning it to halt of fuel cycle production.
US President George W. Bush said last month that he assigned the secretary of state to hold talks with Iran.
