Iran resumes pumping gas to Turkey
Source: Press TV

Iran has resumed the export of natural gas to Turkey which was halted almost three weeks ago due to an unexpected rise in domestic needs.

"Iran began pumping gas to Turkey at 16:00 [local time] at a volume of 1.5-2 million cubic meters per day," Turkey's Anatolia News Agency reported Sunday.

According to an official from Turkey's state pipeline company, Botas, so far the country has received around 5 million cubic meters of gas.

In Tehran, the Director of National Iranian Gas Company, Reza Kasaizadeh confirmed the news and promised to raise the volume, Mehr News Agency reported.

Iran was forced to halt its gas deliveries to Turkey earlier this month due to increased domestic demand following a cold snap which hit the country.
