(Mehr News Agency) -- Veteran Iranian actress Parvaneh Masumi is to receive a lifetime
achievement award at the upcoming 26th Fajr Film Festival.
She will receive the Golden Simorgh for her 35 year
of acting during the opening ceremony on January 31.
Masumi told ISNA that she is happy her talent is
being recognized.
She went on to say that she was selected as the best
actress twice at earlier Fajr festival and since there was no Simorgh at that
time, she would like to get one now.
Masumi received best actress awards at the third
Fajr festival for role in "Davudi Flowers" and at the sixth festival for her
roles in the films "Glory of Life" and "Trousseau for Robab".
Asked who she would give her award to if she was
required to do so, she replied, "I would like to hand it to director Naser
Taqvaii, if he would accept it."
"Since acting in the movie 'Captain Khorshid', I
have always liked to appear in his movies. Taqvaii is one of the directors who
puts everything is in its place when begins a job."
Masumi's last appearance in cinema was in Mojtaba's
Raei's "Journey to Hidalo", which was screened at the 24th Fajr festival, but it
has not received an official Iranian screening license yet.
Born in 1944, Masumi studied foreign languages at
Melli University and has acted in numerous movies and TV series, including "The
Crow" and "Toranj".
The 26th Fajr Film Festival will be held at several
of Tehran's cinema halls from February 1-11.
