Tehran, Jan 30, IRNA - Bushehr nuclear power plant will become operational in late October 2008, it was announced here Wednesday.

Ahmad Fayyaz-Bakhsh, Deputy head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization and Managing Director of Iran Atomic Energy Production and Development Company added that the Bushehr nuclear power plant project has had a 93.67 percent progress.

Out of the total 50,000 tons of equipment for the plant, 48,000 tons have been delivered to the site of the power plant, he said.

Fayyaz-Bakhsh said that the remaining 1,900 tons of the equipment will be forwarded to Bushehr nuclear power plant in the coming months.

Russia delivered eight shipments of nuclear fuel for Bushehr nuclear power plant, the last of which arrived in Iran Monday morning.

The shipments included 82 tons of fuel for primary stage of commissioning the power plant, along with auxiliary equipment.
