Tehran, Jan 29, IRNA - New Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Xie Xiaoyan conferred on Tuesday with Majlis Representative and Head of Energy Commission Kamal Daneshyar on expansion of mutual cooperation between the two countries on energy sector.
At the meeting, Daneshyar said Iran is to set up 20 nuclear power plants in the coming years for which the grounds for China's cooperation in the field is well prepared.
According to the Information and Press Department of the Majlis, Iran and China are to cooperate on the construction of nuclear power plants, oil refinery, construction of dams, road construction, construction of rail tracks and steel plants as well as promoting joint investment opportunities between the two countries, he said.
Iran and China enjoy deep rooted historical ties and are to further broaden such ties at various economic fields, Daneshyar said.
Given the importance of energy in the world which has huge demand among countries, he said Iran is ready to welcome investment by Chinese companies in the fields of energy, oil industry and gas.
The Chinese ambassador, for his part, highlighted the two sides' historical commonalties and underlined that the two sides have always experienced a developing and positive relations.
Referring to the increase in volume of trade exchange between the two countries in recent years mainly in joint venture projects in energy and oil industry, he voiced the readiness of his country to invest more in various projects in Iran.
In conclusion, the Chinese ambassador voiced his country's willingness to expand all out cooperation in transportation, construction of highways as well as expansion of cultural activities, education and tourism industry.
