Press TV - Iran's unemployment rate has dropped to 9.6 percent this spring, falling below the 10 percent mark for the first time in recent years.
"According to the latest data released by the Iran Statistics Center, unemployment stood at 9.6 percent during the past season," Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Mohammad Jahromi told reporters on Wednesday.
"The figure shows a 1.1 percent fall compared to spring 2007 and a 1.4 percent drop in comparison to the statistics released for spring 2006," he added.
Reducing unemployment to less than 10 percent has always posed a challenge to Iran - a country with a population of over 70 million, which face an ever increasing demand for jobs as its post war baby boomers enter the job market.
Up to 750,000 people enter the labor market each year in a country where more than two-thirds of the population is aged under 30.
