Moin was another Arash whose arrow was his language: litterateur

TEHRAN, July 13 (Mehr News Agency) -- Moin passed away on July 3 marking the anniversary of the death of Iranian hero Arash the Archer, who died after shooting an arrow to mark the border of Iran and Turan. Moin was another Arash whose arrow was his language, literary scholar Qadamali Sarami remarked during the commemoration of Moin's death.

The 37th anniversary of the death of Professor Mohammad Moin was held in his home on Thursday that was attended by several writers, some of his former students, friends and family members.

Moin was one of the most prominent scholars of Persian literature and Iranology.

Writing books and teaching at universities may seem like simple tasks to many people. While numerous professors teach at the universities, few professors are also researchers like Moin, Shahid Beheshti, University Professor Mansur Servat commented during the event.

Moin's daughter Mahdokht proposed to Tehran Municipality to change the Moin's house into a museum. Moin's wife Mahin Amir Jahed was also honored during the ceremony.

Born in Rasht in 1914, Mohammad Moin was the first to graduate with doctoral degree in Persian literature from Tehran University.

Professor Moin was well known for his Persian dictionary, which he compiled in collaboration with Dehkhoda. He was also head of the Literature commission at the International Congress of Iranology. He died in 1971 and was buried in Astaneh Ashrafieh, Gilan.
