Press TV - The Central Bank of Iran has announced that the annual inflation rate of food products rose to 45 percent in the week ended July 11.
According to CBI figures, based on the retail price for 11 food groups, inflation rate in the week ended July 11 increased 45.82 percent compared to the same period last year.
The CBI added that rice, with 238 percent, had the highest rate of inflation among the food groups, which included dairies, vegetables, meat and sugar.
The Iranian commerce minister announced in June that the country had to import up to 1.2 million tons of rice to ease soaring prices and combat a drought that has plagued the country.
