Press TV - Iranian lawmakers have criticized United Arab Emirates' security officers for mistreating Iranian passengers at the Dubai airport.
Members of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Majlis condemned the disrespectful treatment of Iranian nationals and called on the UAE government to take immediate action against such offensive behavior.
On Saturday, UAE security officers interrogated a number of Iranian nationals in Dubai airport in a rude manner, later refusing to apologize.
Such behaviors strain the Iran-UAE relations and would serve the interests of neither side, said Iranian parliamentarian Parviz Sarvari.
Iranian entrepreneurs have been investing in various sectors in the Arab state for years; the UAE benefits considerably from the business activities of Iranians.
Another lawmaker, Javad Jahangirzadeh, urged the Iranian Embassy in the UAE and Iran's Foreign Ministry to take appropriate measures to deal with the offense.
It is the UAE that would sustain losses for the maltreatment of Iranian nationals, said member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Majlis, Zohreh Elahiyan.
Elahiyan reiterated the importance of the protection of Iranian nationals' rights in all countries.
Iranian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Hamid-Reza Assefi, dismissed the UAE security officers' behavior as intolerable and called for retaining the dignity of Iranian nationals.
