Press TV - Iran's Peykan volleyball team has beaten the UAE's Al-Nasr at the 19th Asian Men's Club Volleyball Championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The Iranian squad defeated Al-Nasr 3-0 ( 25-18 , 25-19, 25-14 ) in its second match at 2:30 pm local time on Friday.

Earlier on Thursday, Peykan beat China's Hanan 3-1 in its first encounter.

The Asian defending champion, coached by Mostafa Karkhaneh, is slated to play against Kazakhstan on Saturday.

The 19th Asian Men's Club Volleyball Championship began June 17 and will end July 24.

Peykan won the 2007 Asian Men's Volleyball Clubs Championship for the second consecutive year after thrashing Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal 3-0 in the final in the Bahraini capital of Manama.

The Peykan Volleyball Club is a professional volleyball team based in the Iranian capital, Tehran. The team is sponsored by Iran's leading automobile manufacturer, Iran Khodro.
