Larijani: Pre-emptive measures a theory of modern savagery

Tehran, July 28, IRNA - Iran's Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Monday that the theory of pre-emptive measures which has been raised by US is now regarded as 'modern savagery'.

Speaking to a group of Iraqi guests attending Iraq cultural week in Tehran, he said that following the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Americans raised a new theory for governing the globe by promoting the principles of unilateralism in order to dominate the entire world.

A close look to the real status of US in the region, they are now announcing in their presidential campaign that they should withdraw their forces from Iraq and in the meantime NATO has declared that they are trapped in Afghanistan.

Both US and NATO admit the fact that the occupiers have destroyed Afghanistan, and even divided Taliban to good and bad and hold talks with Taliban secretly, Larijani said.

"The will of Muslims has ruined US strategy in the region, he said.

The US is repentant for his wrong action in the region and should apologize for their wrongdoing, he said.

Although they know that they have committed grave mistakes to this end but they are mow masterminding new plots, he said.

"The Middle East is like a dish full of thorns. If you would like it, please mind your larynx," Larijani said.

Vigilance and awareness of nations in the region would deter US from attaining its sinister goals, he said.

Referring to the Iraqi people, he said, "Although you have taken some big steps by forming Majlis and a democratic government but you are still exposed to threats."

"They seek to partition you," he said adding that the US intelligence service sow seeds of discords between Shiites and Sunnis.

Larijani called Iraq and Iran as two prominent countries in the region and said, "Unfortunately, the two nations in the past suffered a lot due to dreadful policies of Saddam Hossein."

Ties between Iranian and Iraqi people is strategic, he said adding that some ill-wishers try to create rift between the two nations but to no avail.

"They never give up their conspiracies because they are not familiar with the culture of the people in this region or the Zionist advisors mislead them," he said.

"We should spare no effort to help restore tranquility and peace in the region," Larijani said.

"We should not let the occupiers continue their tyranny in the region," he said.

"If the occupiers leave Iraq, the Iraqi nation are capable of administering their own affairs," Larijani underlined.
