Iranian students shine in Physics Olympiad


Tehran, July 29, IRNA - Iranian students bagged five bronze medals in the 39th International Physics Olympiad in Vietnam. The students include Mehran Ebrahimian, Sina Aqa-Mohammadi, Jamshid Rezaie Mianroudi, Amir-Abbas Salar-Kia and Amir Najafi.

The Iranian students will return home Wednesday evening.

China and Taiwan won five gold medals each, finishing first at the 39th International Physics Olympiad that ended in Vietnamese capital of Hanoi on Monday.

South Korea, India and the United States grabbed four gold and one silver medals each, ranking the second, followed by Vietnam with four gold medals and one bronze medal, Thailand with three gold and two silver medals, and Russia with three gold, one silver and one bronze medals.

A total of 376 high school students from 82 countries took part in the event.
