The 7th Sadegh Hedayat Literary Award will be organized by the Hedayat office and Sokhan website. 

Competition entry conditions

• Each writer may submit only one short story in Persian which must not have been published anywhere else.

• The story must be more than 1000 words and less than 4000 words and can be sent in one of two ways:

• Entered online at http://www.sokhan.com/submitstory.asp

• Sent by post to the Hedayat Office, P.O.Box 19585-365, Tehran, Iran.  The stories that are sent by post must be 4 copies, typewritten on A4 paper.  All these entries will enter the competition, but only some of them will be published on the Sokhan website.  Submitted stories will not be returned.

• The deadline for submission of the stories is 30th Mehr 1387 (21st October 2008).
• The announcement of the winners and the best selected stories will take place in Bahman 1387 (February 2009).
• The prizes of winners who reside abroad will be given to their representatives
• Persian speakers in the neighboring and other countries may take part in this competition

Writers who enter this competition must note that until the announcement of the winners and the selection of the stories for publication in a book which consists of the selections of the best entries, they must not submit or publish their stories in any book, magazine, newspaper, website or enter the story in any other competition.  Otherwise the relevant story will be disqualified from this competition.

All competitors must send their contact details, including their full name and address, telephone, fax, mobile numbers, and e-mail address (if applicable).  Should any of the information change, they are kindly requested to inform the Hedayat office in Tehran.  Stories which lack contact information will not be included in the competition.

By submitting their story for the competition it is understood that the competitors agree that if their story is chosen, they give their consent for its publication in the collection of the best entries.  The Hedayat Office is permitted to edit the story as required.

Selection of the Works and Prizes

• The list of judges will be announced at the final ceremony

• The winners will receive a Sadegh Hedayat Statuette and a Certificate of Appreciation
